Resolving the “No Route To Host” Error on a Mac Client

Symptoms

When you run the connection test in the Argos Desktop Billing Client on a Mac, it fails with the error No Route To Host, even though the Communication Service is running and reachable from other machines.

Cause

Newer versions of macOS require apps to get permission before they can find and communicate with devices on the local network. If the Argos Desktop Billing Client has been denied (or hasn’t been granted) this permission, macOS blocks its traffic to the Communication Service, which shows up as “No Route To Host.”

Resolution

Enable the Local Network permission for the Argos Desktop Billing Client:

  1. Click the Apple menu and select System Settings.
  2. In the left sidebar, click Privacy & Security.
  3. Click Local Network.
  4. Find Argos Desktop Billing Client in the list and turn its toggle on.
  5. Quit and reopen the Argos Desktop Billing Client, then run the connection test again.

The test should now connect successfully.

Still seeing the error?

If the error persists with the permission enabled, the issue is likely elsewhere. Confirm that the Communication Service is running and that port 7080 is reachable from the Mac, then contact Sepialine Support with the details.
