Importing Projects from Deltek Vision

Deltek Vision is one of the most common accounting programs in the AEC market. Argos 8 has direct integration with Deltek Vision to both import project, phases and tasks from Vision, and to export billed activity back to Vision.

Argos offers 2 versions of the integrated import connector, depending on where the Deltek Vision database is located, locally hosted (on-site server) or cloud hosted

Importing From a Localy Hosted (on-site server) Vision database

  1. In Argos Manager, Projects section, click the + icon and select Import Projects….
  2. In the Automate Projects window, click the Data source drop down list and select Deltek Vision (Locally-hosted). Click Configure.
  3. In the Project Import Settings window, enter the Deltek Vision server name, instance name (if defined), database name (default is Vision) and SQL credentials.
  4. Click Test connection to verify connectivity.
  5. Click OK to close the Connection successful message.

To Import From A Cloud Hosted Vision Database

  1. In Argos Manager, Projects section, click the + icon and select Import Projects….
  2. In the Automate Projects window, click the Data source drop down list and select Deltek Vision (Cloud). Click Configure.
  3. In the Project Import Settings window, enter the URL used to connect to the Deltek Vision server in the Server field. The URL format string can be found by reviewing the address used to connect by the Deltek Vision client. The URL string should be appended with the text VisionWS.asmx and you may need to remove the word "client" from the URL if you see it there. There are a few variations of the URL format, depending on the hosting vendor. Some examples are listed below

https://vision71.visionhosted.com/Client_Name/visionws.asmx https://vision.Client_Server_Name.com/vision/VisionWS.asmx http://vision71.visionhosted.com/vision/VisionWS.asmx

In the Database field, enter the name of the database as listed in the Deltek Vision client. Typically, this will be a variation of the customer name. Enter any users credentials into the Login and Password fields. These will be the same credentials being used in the Deltek Vision client. Click Test connection to verify connectivity.

  1. Click OK to close the Connection successful message.

Custom Vision imports

Want to see your Vision billing data in a different format? The standard Argos importer can import directly from any SQL database, including Vision. You can create a specialized view in your Vision database, or create a custom SQL script to run within the standard importer. See Importing Billing Codes from a SQL Database for more information. Custom imports are only available with databases that allow SQL Server access.
