Filter Related Crashes

The filter within the Reports and Data section of Argos Manager is a very powerful tool that is building SQL queries to refine your data set while you make selections. In order to ensure that your queries don’t become overly complex, we suggest hitting the Reset button in the lower right corner in between filters and starting fresh.

Sometimes you may see Manager errors that include the following text:

InnerException:
Exception type: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException
Exception message:
Timeout expired.  The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding.

This means that your filter has become too complex to pull in data in a reasonable amount of time.  You may even get the error as soon as you navigate to the “Reports and Data” section, as the filter is loaded by default.

In these cases, please delete the offending filter, either by highlighting it and hitting delete in the Manager UI or renaming/removing the text file from the following folder:  C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\Sepialine\Filters

After you’ve deleted that filter/file, open Manager again and you should be able to run reports in a timely fashion.
