Considerations when using Secure Release with a Konica Minolta MFP

Argos OnBoard for Konica Minolta includes a Secure Release function that can be used either on a single device, or multiple devices (Global Print).

Print Server

Users must print through a central Windows print spooler. Argos Secure Release stores secure print jobs in our application that runs on the print server. To ensure all jobs will be handled the same way, all users should print to the Konica Minolta devices through a central print server.

Print Driver

We currently support Secure Release on Konica Minolta devices compatible with version of the c452/c552/c652 driver. Additional driver and device configurations may also be supported. This page will be updated as new drivers are tested.

Print Tracking

If you are also using Argos to track secure printing by user, we recommend using Argos Windows print tracking or Argos EFI Fiery integration, if applicable. Argos OnBoard for Konica Minolta can track printing, but usernames are not recorded unless a PIN code is entered in each user's print driver settings. Here is a breakdown of the different tracking methods available with Secure Release:

Tracking MethodPositivesNegatives
Windows Print Tracking Records username As-Submitted tracking
EFI Fiery Tracking Records usernames, As-printed tracking Requires EFI Fiery controller
Argos OnBoard Tracking As-printed tracking Requires PIN code in driver to record username
