USB connected printers

Printer not printing

Argos print tracking utilizes a special print processor (ArgPrint) that replaces the standard Windows print processor (WinPrint). Most printers, even if they use a proprietary print processor by default, can switch to the Argos print processor without issue.

However, some low-end USB-connected printers require very unusual print processors, and cannot print when using ArgPrint or WinPrint. For these devices, we have an alternate tracking mode that allows the printer to use its native print processor.

  1. In Argos Manager and click Devices
  2. Double-click the USB printer to open the properties. On the Windows & Mac queues tab, click the Show Advanced settings button. Un-check the box next to Enable enhanced parser. Click OK.

Printer not tracking

In some cases, the device may now print, but it does not track. If so, try these steps:

  1. In Argos Manager and click Devices
  2. Double-click the USB printer to open the properties. On the Windows & Mac queues tab, click the Show Advanced settings button. Select the radio button next to Track Job-level information. Click OK.

  3. On the computer that has the USB printer attached, browse to C:\ProgramData\Sepialine\Argos7.
  4. Open the tracking.config file in a text editor such as Notepad

  5. Change the value of the TrackingMode key to 3
  6. Change the value of the FilterZeroLengthJobs key to false
  7. Save the file changes, overwriting the existing version.
  8. Restart the Argos Agent service on the computer that has the USB printer attached.
